PERMUT

Syntax:

PERMUT ( number , number-chosen )

Description: Computes the number of permutations for number-chosen objects that can be selected from number objects.
Note: : A permutation is any set or subset of objects or events where internal order is significant. Permutations are different from combinations, for which the internal order is not significant. Use this function for lottery-style probability calculations.

Return Type and Value: number – The number of different permutations of number-chosen in number.

However, if

  • number < 0, #NUM! is returned.

  • number-chosen < 0, #NUM! is returned.

  • number < number-chosen, #NUM! is returned.
